What's The Problem Anyway

I was wearing my motivational speaker hat, getting ready to speak to a group of teachers. And while I was doing that - I was musing to myself. You know, making one of those nonverbal sounds as I looked at the table the hotel audio/visual guy had brought me.  I was thinking, "that's just about the perfect size for my props."

How to Create REALLY Happy Customers Who LOVE You!

As a motivational speaker, I travel a LOT and I still have a vivid memory of an intriguing experience I had several years ago at the DCA airport.  I picked a rental car from the National Car Rental lot and pulled up to the checkout kiosk.  And when the young man turned around to take my information, something REALLY interesting happened.  Now, before I tell you want happened, I need you to know that I was in what I call, a “neutral” emotional state.  I wasn’t particularly happy, certainly not sad – just kind of neutral.

How to Turn a Difficult, Idiot Patient Into Your Greatest Raving Fan

“Stand here, bite down on the mouth piece and take a step forward,” the dental assistant said as she put me in the zippy 3D panoramic x-ray machine.  It was clear she wasn’t thrilled to be doing this since I was being seen on an emergency basis right at closing time and this was making her stay late.  I did as she asked.

The Most CRITICALLY IMPORTANT JOB for Patient/Customer Service Providers

By Linda Larsen - Wednesday, October 10, 2018

I’m a high maintenance dental patient. That’s right - a motivational speaker who is a high maintenance dental patient. It’s almost an oxymoron. But it’s true. I just think about going to the dentist and my left eye starts twitching. And what makes this really fascinating is that I am also the (self-proclaimed) World’s Most Experienced Dental Patient. Name a procedure and I’ve probably had it done - more than once. So you’d think I’d be over it by now. Yeah, right. I’m not.

The WORST Customer Service Comment In the History of the World!

By Linda Larsen - Wednesday, April 15, 2015

I felt like I was the lead actor in a surreal reality television show. A show about the real-life, almost unbelievable customer service experiences of a motivational speaker who just happens to talk about how to provide exceptional customer service.  Grab your popcorn.

The Million Dollar Secret to Business Success

I am pitiful when it comes to hanging on to prescription glasses. Absolutely pitiful. In the last month I bought FOUR pair of prescription glasses. One for distance, one for reading and two sunglasses. And in the same month, I lost BOTH pair of the sunglasses - one on an airplane (motivational speakers fly a LOT!) and the other one, I think, grew legs and ran away from home. Regardless, yesterday it was time to go BACK to Lenscrafters and get another pair of prescription sunglasses. I was not happy. I did not want to spend more money. I was grinding my teeth all the way there.

Did You Do Something You Weren't Supposed To Do?

As a motivational speaker on customer service I make it a point to observe what actions work really well to create happy, fiercely loyal customers, clients and patients for life - and which do just the opposite. And today I had one of those experiences wherein I saw a spectacularly great customer service idea in action. It was at my car dealership's service department.

Please Let Me Give You More Money

I am amotivational speaker by profession, but I used to be an actor for many years. As such, my favorite pastime whenever I'm not working is to go see live theater.  So last week I saw Noah Racey's Pulse at the Asolo State Theater. Four times. In one week. And if the show hadn't closed today, I would have seen it again.
