Okay - so I am a motivational speaker NOW - but I used to be a professional actress, performing on stages in lots of plays where the characters were VERY colorful and the costumes were straight from periods of long ago.  I remember rehearsing for weeks learning all the nuances of my character, but it wasn't until we started rehearsing in costumes - that the magic really began to happen.  I remember playing the role of Celia in As You Like It and what happened when I first put on the costume. As a motivational speaker for women, I am totally clear that I teach the things I need to learn. I haven't "arrived." I'm not speaking from some platform in the sky. I'm in the trenches, making mistakes and, hopefully, learning as I go. And today I had a delicious "aha" moment.

As a motivational speaker on customer service I make it a point to observe what actions work really well to create happy, fiercely loyal customers, clients and patients for life - and which do just the opposite. I am amotivational speaker by profession, but I used to be an actor for many years. As such, my favorite pastime whenever I'm not working is to go see live theater.  So last week I saw Noah Racey's Pulse at the Asolo State Theater. Four times. In one week. And if the show hadn't closed today, I would have seen it again.

Thanks and Thanks and Ever Thanks

William Shakespeare could have been a motivational speaker in his time, because wow - did he have a way with words. In Twelfth Night, Sebastian doesn't merely toss a casual "thanks" in Antonio's direction after he has been extended such kind concern and thoughtfulness. Instead he says, "I can no other answer make but thanks, and thanks, and ever thanks."
